RARE ARF 2001 CB Scanning Transceiver
I have for sale a rare and collectible Citizens Band radio. It was made by A.R.F. Products Inc. in the late 70's. It had a retail price of $ 1000.00 and was produced in small quantities. Estimates indicate less than 1000 were produced. It was made in America using only American parts. The internal layout was similar to commercial communications gear; with different PC boards for each Stage .
The SAM switch controls the Servo Amplitude Modulation circuit; an enhancement similar to a processor that A.R.F. incorporated into this design.
Above the normal controls on the bottom are switches for some unique features. The PA is a familiar function but the ARF-2001 added a twist; TALK BACK. It was used to allow the ARF-2001 to be used in an industrial or commercial site as an intercom; allowing the PA Speaker mounted in another department to be used as a microphone to communicate back to the office. In addition the External Speaker switch allowed another listening device to be mounted and controlled via the front panel. To the right of the External Speaker switch is the familiar Noise Blanker NB switch. One more to the right is a feature labeled AMSIL for AM Silencer. This was an A.R.F. Products exclusive that would mute any AM or carrier based signal when the set was operated in the SSB Mode. It is impressive to hear it eliminate all hetrodyne beeps boops and Billy-Bobs on SSB so only a Sideband-Based signal would pass. Can you imagine a Sideband Squelch control that actually worked This feature made this a reality. The switch to the right of this feature allowed the SWR to be monitored and was used in conjunction with the SWR RF Signal Strength meter. The other meter allowed Monitoring the percentage Modulation and Calibrating the SWR forward level.
In the center of the rig is a status window that has indicators for Transmit High SWR AMSIL and Receive. Below that is a Dimmer control for illumination level and a CALibrate control for setting the SWR and Modulation percentage reference level. To the right of that is the optional frequency counter which displays channel frequency. To the right of that is the mode and channel number display.
Excellent condition with a complete set of manuals and the stock D 104 mike included.
